Zoom Wine Tasting

Well we have just concluded a blind wind tasting via Zoom. Our host sanitized and dropped off three wine samples to each of four participants, and then we all got together on Zoom to taste and make our guesses.

Before the Zoom session started I recorded my guesses on video and these are posted below.

Having completed the call, I can report we had a great conversation and we all enjoyed the wine and occasion very much. As per normal in blind tastings we were rather awful at calling the wines correctly.

We did not taste the wines in the same order as my  pre-tasting and the videos above. So the wines in the pic below are not in the same order as the videos.

To sum it up, we all completely missed the US Mourvedre 2011, and my guess of a right bank Merlot was just as wrong as most! The second wine was the Barbera 2012, which I had called a pinot noir. Most of us missed, although one of us did call it Italian for a small lead in the contest.

We all did well on the final wine, correctly calling it an old left bank Cabernet Sauvignon. The 1970 was specially chosen by our host to celebrate his 50th birthday!
